Europa hat das Potenzial f眉r eine f眉hrende Rolle in der Welt 鈥� politisch, wirtschaftlich und kulturell. Doch um dieses Potenzial f眉r die Zukunft abrufen zu k枚nnen, braucht es eine klare Ausrichtung auf die zentralen Aufgaben der europ盲ischen Ebene: die Sicherung der Au脽engrenzen, die Zusammenarbeit der europ盲ischen Staaten im Au脽enhandel, in der Verteidigung und bei der Forschung, den Binnenmarkt und die Wettbewerbsf盲higkeit st盲rken und so Millionen Arbeitspl盲tze erhalten.

Europa wird nur stark, wenn es sich auf die Kernaufgaben konzentriert. Stattdessen verschwendet die EU ihre Kraft f眉r ideologische Projekte. Sie k眉mmert sich um Nebens盲chlichkeiten, w盲hrend wichtige Themen liegen bleiben. Deshalb ist es notwendig, die Europ盲ische Union zur眉ckzubauen听鈥� weniger Kompetenzen, weniger Aufgaben, weniger Ausgaben. Doch diese Kommission steht f眉r das Gegenteil. Ihr Programm ist: Weiter so! Mehr Auflagen f眉r unsere Industrien, mehr Ausgaben f眉r Gender- und Klimapolitik, mehr Zensur, mehr Zentralismus.

Mit anderen Worten: Diese EU-Kommission will mehr von alledem, was wir ablehnen. Und darum lehnen wir diese EU-Kommission ab. Europa funktioniert, wenn die Nationalstaaten ihre Souver盲nit盲t in den Bereichen Kultur-, Sozial-, Einwanderungs- und Haushaltspolitik bewahren und gleichzeitig in der Sicherheitspolitik, beim Schutz der Au脽engrenzen und beim Binnenmarkt zusammenarbeiten. Unser Europa ist das Europa der Freiheit und der Zusammenarbeit; ein Europa, das in den Herzen unserer B眉rger, in den Vaterl盲ndern lebt, nicht in den Fluren dieser B眉rokraten. Deshalb sagen wir Nein. Nein zu dieser EU-Kommission, Nein zur Politik von Frau von der Leyen und Ja zur Souver盲nit盲t unserer Nationen in Europa!

De ces gens-l脿, aujourd'hui, il n'en a pas 茅t茅 question, Madame von der Leyen, peut-锚tre parce que vous avez un salaire bien confortable, du haut de vos 30 000 euros par mois. De m锚me, mettre 脿 contribution les milliardaires, les superprofits, plut么t que de faire payer les travailleurs de leurs poches, il n'en a jamais non plus 茅t茅 question dans ce d茅bat.

脌 la place, vous avez transform茅 votre discours en 芦L'Europe a un incroyable talent禄, en listant un 脿 un vos commissaires comme des rockstars. J'aurais aussi pu le faire. Vous pr茅sentez Monsieur Dombrovskis, en charge du racket de nos services publics et de nos syst猫mes de protection sociale, responsable d'orchestrer l'aust茅rit茅; Monsieur 艩ef膷ovi膷, en charge du grand d茅m茅nagement du monde, en signant 脿 tour de bras des accords de libre-茅change; Monsieur S茅journ茅, en charge de la d茅sindustrialisation, des d茅localisations et des plans de licenciements; et, cerise sur le g芒teau, Monsieur Fitto, en charge de la nouvelle alliance avec l'extr锚me droite 鈥� quoique j'aurais pu mentionner aussi Madame Kallas, en charge de la complicit茅 avec le g茅nocide 脿 Gaza.

La r茅alit茅, c'est que les seuls gagnants de ce concours, Madame von der Leyen, sont 脿 l'extr锚me droite. Et on a vu 脿 quel point le groupe de Monsieur Fitto, le groupe d'extr锚me droite men茅 par les n茅ofascistes en Italie, sortait gagnant avec Monsieur Weber. Avec Monsieur Weber. Car oui, pour sauver votre coalition, Madame von der Leyen, vous avez pactis茅 avec l'extr锚me droite. Pas 茅tonnant qu'aucun talent n'ait 茅t茅 propos茅, par exemple, pour sauvegarder les droits des femmes. C'est surtout cela que l'on retiendra aujourd'hui, quitte 脿 humilier certains groupes ici.

Alors, mon groupe The Left 鈥� de la gauche 鈥�, Madame von der Leyen, n'est pas 脿 vendre. Comptez sur nous pour nous opposer fermement, mais avec espoir et radicalit茅, 脿 votre Commission de malheur.

听听Bas Eickhout, on behalf of the Verts/ALE Group. 鈥� Madam President, it was a very difficult decision for our group, and you know very well we are still of the opinion making Fitto Executive Vice-President of this Commission is a mistake.听People that say, 'He is not far right,' tell that to the mothers in Italy whose rights to have children together have been taken away just because they want to live together. Tell that to the judges who are criticised by the government for just doing their job. And tell that to the journalists who feel under pressure more and more just to do their job independently.

We as a Green group will always fight for an open and an inclusive society where everyone feels welcome and can love whoever they want. But we see as well that much work lies ahead of us: the climate crisis is accelerating; wars to our east and south threaten our democracy and credibility; our industry is under pressure of China and US; and people fight for the cost of their living.

We see a Commission that wants to work with us, and we want too, to work on climate adaptation, to work on a clean industrial act, to work on the energy transition, to work on a just transition for everyone, to work on a stronger rule of law. But also, we will make sure that the simplification agenda will not be a deregulation agenda.

It was a difficult decision for us also because of the parliamentary process. And I am just going to say that there is a big responsibility for the biggest group: being harder on a respected minister from the Social Democrats than you were on a Fidesz candidate that called us idiots. How could you do that? So let us at least learn one thing. Let never any more national politics get back into this arena.

听听Val茅rie Hayer, on behalf of the Renew Group. 鈥� Madam President, thank you. Madam President, you were elected to lead the Commission on the basis of a work programme. It largely includes our Renew proposals and this is very good news. We are at a turning point. We are facing existential challenges.听So you know my family's ambitions 鈥� three things.

First, freedom. No rule of law, no EU funds. Madam President, we appreciate your support for smart conditionality. Thank you for endorsing it for the first time. And we also call for the Commission to move to the next step of Article 7.

Second, prosperity. Let's answer Mario Draghi's wake-up call. We have to scrap red tape, to simplify, we have to speed up the savings and investments Union. You have announced a Clean Industrial Deal. It must be our tool to decarbonise the economy. It must serve the Green Deal. EU businesses are already on track for a clean future. They need our support and we won't accept any backtracking when it comes to protecting the planet.

And third, security. 80听% of our military equipment comes from abroad. We are the target of more and more threats on our democracies here in Europe. If we don't reinforce our security, our defence market and our support to Ukraine, Europe will be at major risk. We need a true defence and security Union. There is no plan B.

We are counting on your entire College to follow to the letter the direction that you, yourself, set out in this Chamber. It is a huge, huge task, but we will be by your side.

Ook ik heb mijn twijfels bij een aantal van de nieuwe commissarissen, maar het is genoeg geweest met de koehandel en het moddergevecht. Er moet nu voor de burger worden gewerkt. En we weten allemaal dat dit zonder nieuwe Commissie niet kan. Anders kunnen we niet aan de slag en betaalt de burger voor het tijdverlies. Hij krijgt hier genoeg van. Beste collega鈥檚, laten we eerlijk zijn en stoppen met geheime deals en geheime relaties. We kunnen niet van anderen verwachten dat ze transparant zijn, als wij ons op die manier gedragen. Want er is maar 茅茅n persoon van wie wij het vertrouwen moeten winnen, en dat is de kiezer.

Ze willen dat we ons migratiebeleid op orde brengen en dat we werken aan goede terugkeerwetten die worden aangenomen en ge茂mplementeerd. Ze willen dat we antisemitisme bestrijden; dat Joodse kinderen niet naar scholen gaan die beveiligd moeten worden, maar naar scholen gaan die veilig zijn. Ze willen dat we onze rechtsstaat durven te beschermen; dat we de politi毛le en justiti毛le samenwerking verbeteren; dat we de georganiseerde misdaad aanpakken en dat we onze havens beschermen tegen drugscriminaliteit. Ze willen dat we ervoor zorgen dat geen enkel seksueel misdrijf onbestraft blijft; dat de economie gerepareerd wordt; dat onze industrie niet vernietigd wordt door de gekke plannen van de groenen en van de communisten. Ze willen dat we eindelijk een EU zijn waarop zij kunnen rekenen. Door u vandaag mijn stem te geven, doe ik iets dat ik heel serieus neem, mevrouw von听der听Leyen. Ha le铆do perfectamente el mensaje que aquellos que queremos construir Europa con usted y con su Colegio de Comisarios queremos trasladarle.

Evidentemente, el Parlamento Europeo representa la soberan铆a ciudadana, una Europa diversa, una Europa con diferencias, pero una Europa que es consciente de que tiene que trabajar unida.

Evidentemente, no ha sido f谩cil la negociaci贸n. Evidentemente, usted no tendr谩 el apoyo del 100听% de esta C谩mara, ni siquiera de mi grupo. Pero en esta casa hay una mayor铆a que puede avanzar en construir la Europa que necesitamos: la Europa de la igualdad, la Europa de la solidaridad, la Europa de la defensa de los derechos humanos, la Europa verde, la Europa feminista, la Europa que quiere responder a los problemas de la ciudadan铆a.

Hay quien ha puesto muchos problemas en esta negociaci贸n, quien ha intentado desestabilizar a la Uni贸n Europea por poner sus intereses partidistas por encima de los intereses de Europa. Pero tenga clara una cosa: el mensaje es evidente, aqu铆 hay una mayor铆a entre populares, liberales, socialdem贸cratas y verdes que quieren trabajar conjuntamente. Posiblemente hoy no sean todos los votos positivos, pero s铆 hay un compromiso para que ma帽ana empecemos a trabajar por el bien com煤n. Hoy no termina nada, hoy empieza todo y tiene con usted y con todo el Colegio de Comisarios a un Grupo Socialdem贸crata que va a ser responsable, que va a marcar la agenda, que va a defender los valores de la Uni贸n y que va a seguir trabajando por el bien de toda la ciudadan铆a europea.

听听Jeroen Lenaers, on behalf of the PPE Group. 鈥� Madam听President, before going on to the vote of the new European Commission, let me also thank the outgoing Commissioners for their dedication and their work in the past years. Regardless of nationality or political colour, you have put yourself at the service of the European citizens and we thank you for that.

As for the new Commission, almost 200听million voters went to the ballot box and they put their trust in us to deliver on their priorities and to address their concerns. They gave us the responsibility for making sure that Europe is heading in the right direction. We take an important step today in that responsibility, by making sure Europe is governed and by making sure the new European Commission can take office without delay.

I would like to say to President听von听der听Leyen and the new team 鈥撎齛nd this might not be a shock听鈥� but you can rely on the support of the EPP Group. At the same time, I will say though, our support will come with expectations. Expectations that you will deliver on that message from the voters.

Like Robert Schuman said, Europe will not be built at once, but through concrete achievements, and this European Commission must be the Commission of concrete achievements on European competitiveness and reducing red tape, on migration, on strategic autonomy, on agriculture, on security and defence. On all these issues Europe must deliver.

We have no time to lose. War still rages on the European continent. Dictators at our eastern borders continue to try and destabilise our Union and the world is in turmoil. We need European leadership. You were right in July when you said that we cannot control demagogues and dictators in the world, but we can choose to protect our own democracy and we can choose to build our own European future.

The big decisions of the next five years will define for a long time the future and our place in the world. So, we must get these decisions right and we must get them right together. With a strong European Commission and with a strong pro-European, democratic, pro鈥憆ule of law majority in this House, we can build a future European Union that prospers, that protects us and that prepares us for whatever the future will bring. So let's get to work.

I have received a request for adjournment of the vote on the election of the Commission. Pursuant to Rule 206(4), a political group or Members reaching at least the low threshold may present a motion calling for a vote to be adjourned. Since the request is not submitted by Members reaching the low threshold, it is not admissible.
