Hearing on e-Evidence

The Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) of the European Ϸվ is organising a public hearing to be held in Brussels on 27 November 2018 on "Electronic evidence in criminal matters".
The programme includes the presentation of a study requested by LIBE on e-evidence, as well as current experience of a wide variety of actors dealing with e-evidence and their views on the proposed e-evidence files (practitioners - judges, prosecutors and lawyers; data protection and fundamental rights authorities and organisations; as well as telecommunication and internet service providers).

Hearing on the situation of the Rule of Law in Poland

A hearing on "The situation of the Rule of Law in Poland, in particular as regards the independence of the judiciary" is organised on 20 November 2018, as a follow-up of the EP Rule of Law mission to Poland that took place from 19 until 21 September 2018. The hearing will be chaired by Mr Claude Moraes.

European Youth Hearing (follow-up of the EYE2018) in LIBE Committee

Young people will attend the LIBE Committee meeting for the European Youth Hearing on 19 November from 15:00 to 15:45. You can follow the hearing live on the EYE Facebook page and join the debate on social media using the hashtag #EYE2018.
At the hearing, former EYE2018 participants will present six innovative proposals on migration and prevention of radicalisation. The format will be an "Ideas Check": three participants will pitch ideas to LIBE Members, who will give spontaneous feedback on these ideas.

The LIBE and FEMM Committees are jointly presenting the new report of the European Institute for Gender Equality on "Gender-specific measures in anti-trafficking actions". The report includes guidance on the implementation of the anti-trafficking directive in a gender specific manner. Guest speakers will be Dr Myria Vassiliadou, EU Anti-Trafficking Coordinator and Ms Virginia Langbakk, Director of the Europe Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE).

The Implementation of the Facilitation Directive and humanitarian assistance

The Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) of the European Ϸվ is organising a public hearing to be held in Brussels on 27 September 2018 on "The Implementation of the Facilitation Directive and humanitarian assistance to irregular migrants".
The programme includes the presentation of an update of the 2015 study commissioned by the European Ϸվ on the implementation of Directive 2002/90/EC of 28 November 2002 defining the facilitation of unauthorised entry, transit and residence ( "Fit for purpose? The Facilitation Directive and the criminalisation of humanitarian assistance to irregular migrants").
Point of views and experience of two citizens engaged in NGOs active with assistance to migrants, of a Member State (France), of the Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex) and of the Commission will also be presented to MEPs to launch the debate.

Hearing on "Rule of law and Safety of Journalists"

A hearing on "Rule of law and Safety of Journalists" is organised on 11 July 2018 at the initiative of the LIBE Working group with a general mandate to monitor the situation as regards Rule of Law and Fight against Corruption within the EU and address specific situations, in particular Malta and Slovakia, chaired by Ms Sophie in ‘t Veld.

Hearing on the Visa Code and Humanitarian Visas

On Tuesday, 10 July 2018 from 15:30 to 18:30, LIBE Committee will hold a hearing on the Visa Code and Humanitarian Visas, in order to gather the input of experts and stakeholders for its further works.
The second part of the Hearing will focus on Humanitarian Visas. Ϸվ is currently drafting a legislative own-initiative report under Rule 45 of the Rules of Procedure, to call upon the Commission to present a separate legislative act on Humanitarian Visas.
