During this legislative term of the European Ϸվ, the IMCO Coordinators and the LIBE Coordinators established a Joint Working Group (WG) on the implementation and enforcement of the Artificial Intelligence Act to scrutinise the implementation of the AI Act and report its findings to the Committee.

On 25 March 2025, the joint WG convened to review the third draft of the Code of Practice for General-Purpose AI (GPAI) models. Under Article 56 of the AI Act, the Code must be finalised by 2 May 2025 - three months before the relevant provisions begin to apply on 2 August 2025. It is intended to help GPAI providers meet obligations related to transparency, copy rights, risk management, and mitigation of systemic risks to the EU internal market, particularly for models with significant scale and capabilities.
The IMCO co-chair of the Working Group reported on this discussion at the IMCO meeting of 28 April (see video below). The next Working Group session is scheduled for 30 April 2025
