The Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development will vote on the modification of customs duties applicable to imports of certain goods originating in or exported directly or indirectly from the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, on 5 May. AGRI Committee will also discuss a legislative proposal about strengthening the position of farmers in the food supply chain.

The exchanges are organised to discuss the state of implementation of the current Commission Work Programme (CWP) as well as the priorities to be reflected in the CWP for the next year.

AGRI committee members will also discuss with the Commission a recent paper of the European Environment Agency, which addresses the issue of exposure to mycotoxins. Mycotoxins are toxins from fungi that contaminate crops, food and feed.

This hearing aims to foster a comprehensive discussion on the current price formation mechanisms and to identify the best strategies to protect farmers against unfair trading practices in the price formation.
