On 14 May from 15:00 to 16:15, together with the CONT committee, the FISC Subcommittee will invite Mr François-Roger Cazala, Member responsible of the European Court of Auditors (ECA) to present its the Special report 08/2025 on “Value Added Tax fraud on imports – The EU’s financial interests are insufficiently protected under simplified import customs procedures”.

IMCO Members travelled to Italy to gather information on several key areas of their legislative work. The MEPs looked specifically at the implementation of EU legislation at local level and assessed its impact on the business world. They delved into consumer protection issues, and also problems faced by the automotive industry.

During the IMCO Committee meeting of 17 March 2025, the Chair, Anna Cavazzini, reported back on the key takeaways from the recent visit to Washington D.C. From 25 to 28 February 2025, IMCO Members held several meetings in Washington, D.C. The main aim of this visit was to strengthen transatlantic cooperation on key IMCO policy areas while obtaining feedback from U.S. stakeholders on the implementation and impact of major EU legislation.

On 18 February, LIBE Members have exchanged on the topics of gender-based violence and the right to international protection of Afghan women and girls with representatives of the European Commission and the UNHCR Representation for EU Affairs.

In October 2023, the European Commission proposed the Migrant Smuggling Package, which includes a proposal for a Regulation on police cooperation and Europol support (Rapporteur Jeroen Lenaers, EPP) and a revision of the Facilitation Directive (Rapporteur Sippel, S&D). Notably, this package was introduced without an impact assessment.

On 6 February 2025, from 11:15 to 12:15, the FISC Subcommittee will host the new Commissioner responsible for taxation, Mr. Wopke Hoekstra, for a discussion on key priorities in the taxation area.
