This side event focused on measures to ensure women's equal participation in labour markets, transparent recruitment procedures in companies or pay transparency, equal pay for equal work or work of equal value, access to decent work opportunities as well as recognising the link between undervalued and underpaid work in female dominated sectors. It also looked at why women and girls continue to be disproportionally affected by poverty and the risks of social exclusion they face, in particular those who experience intersectional forms of discrimination.
