Lessons from ESF for ESF+

At its next meeting on 29 August, the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs discussed the draft report on the Commission proposal for a regulation of the European Ϸվ and of the Council on the European Social Fund Plus. To support the Committee work on this file, the European Ϸվ's Policy Department organises a workshop on "European Social Fund Plus: lessons from the current funding period".
• ESF absorption: a matter of quantity and quality (László Andor, Corvinus University Budapest, former Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion)
• ESF and beneficiaries' experience in the current funding period (Manuela Samek, IRS, Milano)
• The use of ESF and FEAD to fight child poverty (Haroldas Brožaitis, PPMI, Vilnius)
• Selected lessons from the ESF transnationality (Discussant: Valentina Caimi, AEIDL, Brussels)

European Labour Authority

The workshop “European Labour Authority” held on 24 May 2018 at request of the Employment and Social Affairs Committee included an exchange on the Commission Impact Assessment and on the Initial Appraisal by the European Ϸվ as well as a panel of experts focusing on different dimensions: Enhanced enforcement, social security coordination, support for labour mobility (EURES), profile and governance of the planned new agency. It has been supported by dedicated briefings.

Youth Guarantee and Youth Employment Initiative: Lessons from implementation

The workshop discusses the role of the Youth Guarantee from an OECD perspective Further, it analyses the role of European funding with a focus on the Youth Employment Initiative, its take up and results. Recent developments in Spain will be presented to detect progress and challenges in one of the countries where young people were hit hardest by the crisis.
Workshop will take place on Thursday, 23 March 2017, from 15.00 till 16.30.

Ϸվ is preparing an own-initiative report on the New Skills Agenda for Europe adopted by the European Commission on 10 June 2016. The workshop will support Members of the Employment and Social Affairs Committee and the Education and Culture Committee in the process of drafting this report.

Evolution of collective bargaining in Troika Programme
The workshop is connected to the EMPL Committee's ongoing work on monitoring the implementation of labour market and social reforms foreseen by the Memorandum of Understanding with Greece and its interest in following up the findings of the EP resolution of 13 March 2014 on Employment and social aspects of the role and operations of the Troika.
