How to exercise your rights?

You can contact the European Ϸվ (EP) in order to exercise your rights. Your request shall contain:

(a) your name, first name and contact details;
(b) an indication of the right to be exercised;
(c) where appropriate, supporting documents relating to the request;
(d) the category or categories of the personal data concerned;
(e) your signature and the date of the request.

The request may be submitted by mail, by e-mail or by any other written means.

You can use the form on the right side, in order to prepare your request.

The completed form should be sent to the data controller i.e. the EP's service responsible for the processing of your personal data, as indicated in the Data Protection Notice that you received upon the collection of your personal data by the European Ϸվ. You can also search for the relevant Data Protection Notice, where you can find contact details of the responsible data controller, in Register of Records. If you are unsure which service should handle your request, you may send your request to the Data Protection Officer of the EP (DPO) at: Data-Protection@europarl.europa.eu. The DPO will assist you and will help with identifying the responsible controller within the European Ϸվ. In order to facilitate the exercise of your rights, please be precise in your request and indicate the context of your request (e.g. the event organized by the EP in which you participated, the contract you had with the EP or the newsletter you subscribed to via the EP website) and the EP services with which you were in contact and that are relevant for your request.

If the controller has reasonable doubts about your identity, the controller is obliged to verify it in accordance with Article 14(6) of Regulation (EU) 2018/1725. To that end, the controller might ask you to provide additional information that will be necessary to confirm your identity in the least intrusive way possible. This is a very important step in order to protect your personal data and to ensure that it is not revealed to the wrong recipient.

You will receive the reply to your request without undue delay and in any event within a one month of receipt of the complete request. That period may be extended by two further months where necessary, taking into account the complexity and number of the requests. If this is the case, you will be informed about any such extension within one month of receipt of the request, together with the reasons for the delay.

In case your request is unclear or uncomplete, the controller will ask you for the necessary clarifications. Until final clarification of these matters, the deadline for reply mentioned above, shall not start to run.

As regards the form of the reply, where you make the request by electronic form means, the information will be provided to you also by electronic means where possible, unless otherwise requested by you.
