On 8 April 2025, the Subcommittee on Human Rights (DROI) organised a public hearing on the "Human rights situation in Cuba". In the programme of the hearing were two main topics: 1) Human rights situation and fundamental freedoms in Cuba; 2) EU response, state of play and future perspectives.

On 8 April 2025, the Subcommittee on Human Rights (DROI) organised an exchange of views on the situation of press freedom in the world. The exchange featured representatives from international organisations, prominent journalists’ federations and organisations and empirical testimony.

While peace negotiations on Ukraine have been reshaped since the election of US President Trump, Members of the DROI subcommittee, the Delegation to the EU-Russia Ϸվary Cooperation Committee and the Delegation to the EU-Ukraine Ϸվary Association Committee exchanged views on Monday 7 April with Mariana Katzarova, UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Russian Federation and Oleksandra Matviichuk, Head of the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize Centre for Civil Liberties.
