Virkamatkat

Valiokunta voi päättää tehdä virkamatkan jäsenvaltioon, EU:n ulkopuoliseen maahan tai kansainväliseen konferenssiin. Virkamatkan on liityttävä valiokunnalle myönnetyn toimivallan käyttämiseen, ja valiokunta voi lähettää virkamatkalle vain tietyn määrän jäsenistään. Valiokunta voi myös lähettää korkeintaan kolmeksi päiväksi kolmen hengen valtuuskunnan virastoihin, jotka kuuluvat valiokunnan toimivallan piiriin. The Committee on Budgets (BUDG) is traveling to Montenegro to look into the implementation of the recently established Reform and Growth Facility for the Western Balkans, ongoing pre-accession support as well as the potential budgetary implications of Montenegro’s possible accession for the post-2027 Multi-Annual Financial Framework (MFF).

The Committee on Budgets traveled to Latvia in order to learn more about the budgetary implications of enhancing the EU preparedness, focusing in particular on defence spending, in relation to recent geopolitical shifts. As conflicts do not only materialise in conventional forms but also through hybrid threats, significant financial resources can be required not only as defence spending but also across various domains.

Committee on Public Health travelled to Ukraine on 14 and 15 April for talks with parliament representatives and healthcare leaders. The delegation was composed of five Members: Adam Jarubas (EPP, PL), SANT Chair, Tilly Metz (Greens/EFA, LU), SANT Vice-Chair, Vytenis Andriukaitis (S&D, LT), Nikos Papandreou (S&D, EL) and Veronika Cifrová Ostrihoňová (Renew, SK).

A delegation of six Members of the Committee on International Trade (INTA) and the DASE Chair will travel to Indonesia from 14 to 16 April 2025 to discuss political, economic, trade and investment relations with the EU.

A five-member strong delegation visited Kyrgyzstan from 25 to 27 February 2025 with the aim at conducting a constructive dialogue with the Kyrgyz authorities and a series of international and local stakeholders ahead of the consent procedure of the EU-Kyrgyzstan European Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement, as the latter defines the respect for human rights, fundamental values, the rule of law and democratic standards as an essential element of this agreement.

Members of the FISC Subcommittee will travel to Helsinki (Finland) and Tallinn (Estonia) from 25 to 27 February 2025. The delegation, led by second Vice-Chair Ms. Regina Doherty, will meet with representatives of key institutions, such as the Ministries of Finances and national parliaments, and stakeholders from the private sector, trade unions, and civil society.

The 6-Member SEDE delegation to the United Kingdom mission organised in close co-operation with AFET and INTA, was a very timely visit following the announcement by the President of the European Commission and the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom to enhance strategic cooperation after their leaders’ meeting of 2 October 2024. The UK in particular has set out its ambition for an “enhanced EU-UK defence cooperation,” in light of Russia’s continuing war of aggression in Ukraine.

A delegation of six Members of the Committee on International Trade (INTA), accompanied by the Chair of the Delegation to the EU-UK Ϸվary Partnership Assembly, traveled to London (UK) from 28 to 30 October 2024. The delegation, led by the INTA Chair, Bernd Lange (S&D, DE), exchanged with the UK government, parliamentarians and stakeholders on the trade aspects of the EU-UK Withdrawal Agreement, including the Windsor Framework, and the Trade and Cooperation Agreement.

SANT subcommittee travelled to Stockholm from 28 to 29 October 2024 to visit the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC). The delegation was composed of three Members: Elena NEVADO DEL CAMPO (EPP, Spain), András Tivadar KULJA (EPP, Hungary), Marta TEMIDO (S&D, Portugal).
