Eurooppalaiset alueellisen yhteistyön yhtymät (EAYY)
Eurooppalaiset alueellisen yhteistyön yhtymät (EAYY) perustettiin helpottamaan jäsenvaltioiden ja niiden alue- ja paikallisviranomaisten rajatylittävää, valtioiden välistä ja alueiden välistä yhteistyötä. Yhtymien puitteissa nämä kumppanit voivat toteuttaa yhteisiä hankkeita, jakaa asiantuntemusta ja tehostaa aluesuunnittelun koordinointia.
Yhteinen tilastollisten alueyksiköiden nimikkeistö (NUTS)
Euroopan unionissa on otettu käyttöön yhteinen tilastollisten alueyksiköiden nimikkeistö NUTS, joka helpottaa yhdenmukaisten alueellisten tilastojen keräämistä, laatimista ja julkaisemista unionissa. Tätä hierarkkista järjestelmää käytetään myös alueellisten sosioekonomisten analyysien laatimisessa ja unionin koheesiopolitiikan yhteydessä toteutettavien toimien määrittelyssä.
Syrjäisimmät alueet
Euroopan unioni tukee syrjäisimpien alueidensa kehittämistä. Nämä alueet ovat Guadeloupe, Ranskan Guayana, Réunion, Martinique, Mayotte ja Saint-Martin (Ranska), Azorit ja Madeira (Portugali) sekä Kanariansaaret (Espanja). Tuella pyritään lieventämään näiden alueiden maantieteellisestä erityisasemasta aiheutuvia rajoitteita.

Addressing EU demographic challenges: Implementing the 2023 Demography Toolbox

While managing the demographic transition is the responsibility of Member States, it has also become one of the biggest challenges the EU is facing today ...
