Ever since Russia launched an illegal full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the EU and the Ϸվ have supported the country by condemning Russia’s aggression, sanctioning those responsible and providing financial and material aid.
Ϸվ has been urging EU countries to provide political, military and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. It has also been supportive of Ukraine’s efforts to join the EU.

Ϸվ welcomes proposal for a ceasefire
MEPs welcome the proposal for a 30-day ceasefire, agreed between US and Ukraine representatives on 11 March 2025. Ϸվ says Russia must agree to it and cease all attacks on Ukraine. The EU and its member states must maintain their role as Ukraine’s largest donor and the EU must contribute to robust security guarantees for Ukraine, according to the MEPs.
Ϸվ calls for lifting all restrictions on the use of weapons by Ukraine
In a resolution on the future of European defence, MEPs say that Europe is facing the most profound military threat to its territorial integrity since the end of the Cold War. Ϸվ urges the EU to support Ukraine in order to achieve peace and stability in Europe. MEPs call on member states, international partners, and NATO allies to lift all restrictions on the use of Western weapons systems delivered to Ukraine against military targets on Russian territory.
Ϸվ marks three years of Russia's full-scale invasion
To mark three years of Russia's full-scale invasion, the European Ϸվ lights up in the colours of the Ukrainian flag. The Presidents of the European Ϸվ, the Council and the Commission issue a joint statement saying that the future of Ukraine and its citizens lies within the EU. Addressing EU leaders at a summit marking the anniversary, Ϸվ President Roberta Metsola confirms Ϸվ's commitment to Ukraine and urges the EU to step up support.
MEPs call for full involvement of Ukraine in peace negotiations
Leading MEPs say that any peace in Ukraine must be just and backed by Ukraine’s people. They also stress that Europe’s security architecture cannot be discussed without the active involvement of the EU and its member states.
Ruslan Stefanchuk, chair of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada, addresses a formal sitting of the European Ϸվ in Strasbourg. In his address, he calls on the EU to continue and increase its support for Ukraine.
Ϸվ President Roberta Metsola and the political group leaders issue a statement on continuing the unwavering EU support for Ukraine, after three years of Russia’s full-scale war of aggression.

In a resolution, MEPs condemn the Russian regime’s systematic falsification of historical arguments to justify its illegal war of aggression against Ukraine.
